Francisco de Paula Santander, founder of the Republic of Colombia, 1940

Farnham was commissioned by Antonio Ruiz, a Columbian journalist, in 1940 to create a bronze of General Francisco de Paula Santander (1792-1840) The work, a gift from the people of Columbia, was to be given to the City of New York to mark the centenary of Santander's death. It is unclear why the commission was never carried out. Farnham was 71 years old at the time, but was still actively involved in obtaining commissions. This plaster cast was sold at Farnham's estate sale in 1943 and it's location is currently unknown.
