Like Hell You Can!
The Fultonville, NY World War I Monument, 1927, Fultonville, NY

The will of James H. Starin provided for a commemorative war monument to be created and given in his name to Fultonville, NY. Farnham was awarded the commission and set to work on it early in 1926. The figures were modeled after Walter Smith(sailor) and Edward Schmieh(soldier), military friends of her eldest son, James. Farnham said of the commission, " I am so happy to be able to make it a simple memorial and not a sculpture of good little Sunday School boys, or soldiers and sailors dying." The work was dedicated on July 18, 1927. An image of the memorial was used in a marketing campaign, amoung other noted war memorials, by the New York Korean Memorial Commission in 1988.
